Czech Republic – Social Work

As part of its efforts to improve and raise the level of social work, Qatar Foundation for Social Work participated in the European Social Conference, held in collaboration with the International Federation of Social Work in the Czech Republic. This participation complements a series of efforts of the Foundation to build relationships with social work organizations in various European countries in the field of social work. 

The International Federation of Social Work (IFSW) is the global body for the profession of social workers, aspiring to achieve social justice, human rights, and comprehensive and sustainable social development by promoting best practices, engagement in international cooperation, and supporting its members by providing a global voice for the profession. The IFSW is granted a Special Consultative Status by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and UNICEF. Furthermore, the IFSW works with the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).

In this context, the Foundation team presented a paper highlighting the role of information technology and the internet in improving the work of social workers in the Foundation and its centers. The paper also focused on the importance of adopting the latest technology means to make the Foundation's services more effective and inclusive.

The Foundation's participation comes within the framework of the international advocacy and relations plan, which aims to integrate with the international community, engage with experts in the field of social work, and participate in the transfer of experience and exchange of expertise. It also seeks to benefit from the speakers at the conference by building international relationships, holding meetings, transferring information, and sharing knowledge with the Foundation's employees, centers, and those in charge of caring for targeted groups such as orphans and the elderly. The goal is also to transfer expertise to social workers, introduce the Foundation internationally, and prepare for future workshop participation.

On a related note, the team highlighted smart solutions in dealing with the challenges facing social workers, such as using artificial intelligence and quantitative data analysis to achieve service integration and establish constructive relationships with stakeholders.

The participation of Qatar Social Work Foundation was also praised by participants from various European countries, as it was the only Arab country among the participating countries. Experiences and ideas were exchanged on future cooperation prospects between Qatar and the European Union in the field of social work and finding sustainable solutions to address emerging social and economic challenges.
